Some of you have made inquiries about buying my art. Since my original paintings are not for sale, I was hesitant about mass-producing copies of them on flimsy paper through a big online production house. It just didn’t align with how I want to share my art.
So, I spent time researching local, small-business art printing shops in the DC area. I finally found the right partner in Old Town, Alexandria—a woman-owned small business that’s been in business for over 25 years with a small staff.
Their printing quality is exceptional. They use the finest archival museum paper, which feels like a blend of paper, canvas and linen. The texture is divine, and the prints maintain a paint-like quality that truly honors the original artwork.
This approach felt right. Slow, excellent quality, intentional, and rooted in community, aligning with my ethos as an artist. With that in mind, I’m ready to release limited-edition prints of three artworks.
The Art Print Drop
“Things Fall Apart” Still Life is an ode to Nigerian author, poet, professor and culture critic Chinua Achebe. His phrase "things fall apart; the center cannot hold" reflects a meditation on the inevitable breakdown that occurs when the core of a person, society, system, or culture loses its strength, direction, or values. This piece is available as an 11x14-inch archival museum-quality print, faithfully capturing the essence of the original oil painting on canvas.
"Exhausted or Exhilarated" is part of Janet Asante-Sullivan’s ongoing exploration of women in solitude and unguarded. In this piece, Janet invites the viewer to observe whether the subject is exhausted or exhilarated. This piece is available as a 12x12-inch archival museum-quality print, faithfully reproducing the original oil painting on canvas.
"You Do Not Have to Be Good" is inspired by a line from Mary Oliver’s poem Wild Geese, a meditation on belonging, self-acceptance, and taking space—themes that deeply resonate with Janet Asante-Sullivan. This still life is offered as an 11x14-inch archival museum-quality print, capturing every detail of the original oil painting on board.
If you are moved to add one of my pieces to your home, thank you. Do send me pictures when it’s on your wall.
In the spirit of community, 15% of each order will be donated to the Thurman Brisben Center, a shelter for the unhoused where I’ve volunteered for years.
Cheers, Janet
This is such a beautiful and intentional offering, Janet. The care you put into every detail—from the choice of paper to supporting a local woman-owned print shop—really shines through. I especially love that each piece carries a story and a deeper reflection (that Achebe reference? Stunning). Can’t wait to see these on real walls. And your donation to the Thurman Brisben Center—what a generous full-circle moment. Art with heart.
Any chance larger ones would be sold?
